COVID-19 Actions and Preparations

Updated January 11, 2021

Dear Hub Customers,

Due to public health concerns with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have modified our operations and are offering some of our services by appointment only.

While the state and federal governments have recognized that bike shops are essential to our transportation infrastructure and may stay open, we're grateful and remain cautious. The safety of our staff and community is a priority for us, and we understand that some people are reliant on their bicycles during this crisis. We urge you:  utilize our services only when it's essential. If you exhibit any signs of sickness please stay at home. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who does not respect our safety guidelines.

Try our online store & curbside pick-up for purchases.  Shop here!

During All Shop Visits

- Any in-person interactions with our staff require a mask or face covering that covers nose & mouth, with exception to those who cannot keep a mask on their face (viz. children). For those who otherwise cannot wear a mask, we can accommodate you over the phone and from contactless pick up/drop off.
- In order to keep the shop and merchandise safe for our staff and customers, please refrain from touching products or leaving the areas designated for customers.
- Respect a 6-foot distance away from people, including while standing in line outside. We have markings on our sidewalks and on our shop floors to help with this.
- Each test ride customer may bring a +1 into the store if needed. We ask that minors be accompanied by an adult at all times. We are enforcing a store capacity of up to 10 customers at a time.
- Cash is discouraged, but accepted. We have payment terminals that allow for minimal physical interaction, including ApplePay and other touchless options.

Repair Services

- We are rolling in scheduled tune-ups & repairs by appointment, on-the-spot flat fixes, and some quick adjustments while you wait. If you need your bicycle tuned up, please schedule a drop-off appointment online.
- Review the Repair Drop-Off Procedures on our Repair Services page; information about additional services and our Tune packages can also be found there.
- Our service staff is working to complete scheduled repairs within the promised timeline. As usual, we will contact you when your repair is complete.

Online Store

Our web store remains open 24/7:  SHOP NOW
Curbside pick-up is available daily from our 3016 Minnehaha Ave shop.
Due to high customer volume and reduced staffing, please allow 24-36 hours for processing of in-stock parts/accessories/clothing orders. We will contact you via email or phone when your order is ready for pick-up.
Bicycles can now be purchased through our online store!
* Each new bike sale qualifies for our Customer Care Package benefits, including a free 90-Day Tune, and 15% off all accessories purchased in the same transaction...talk about a Happy #NewBikeDay! (use code: NEWBIKEDISCOUNT)!  Accessory discount can only be applied with the sale of a bicycle. Discount is available for both online and in-store new bicycle purchases.
* Some in-stock bikes may not be purchasable online due to authorized dealer agreements...please don't hesitate to email us or call our shop at 612-729-0437 if you have questions about product availability.
* Please allow 3-7 days from the time of purchase to pick up your bike from our shop. We will contact you when your new bike is ready to go home with you.

Used Bikes & Parts

We have a selection of used bikes for purchase--check them out here! And we are again accepting trade-ins on used bikes!
Our used parts Salvage Yard is also open for shopping, one customer at a time. We are now offering store credit for gently used components and accessories as well.

DIY Space Closed

We have made the decision to close our DIY space for the time being. Tools can be purchased through our online store and we have some maintenance and repair resources available here on our website.

Classes & Events

Classes at The Hub are slowly rolling back in! We have created a designated education space and are facilitating classes inside our 3020 Minnehaha Ave storefront, thanks to our community's support!
We will be practicing safety protocols for all events and classes, including:
- Masks that cover both nose & mouth are required by all.
- Social distancing of at least 6' with some physical barriers.
- Disinfection of all surfaces before & after events; limited sharing of tools and other supplies.
- Nitrile gloves available for attendees.

Students already registered for classes have been contacted and spots are being held for future classes.  If you would like to be placed on the waitlist for classes, reach out to our Education Coordinator at classes@thehubbikecoop.biz. Depending how long this situation lasts, we are considering other teaching options such as virtual classes/lectures with Q&A, etc. If you are interested in this possibility, or have other ideas, feel free to send an email to classes@thehubbikecoop.biz and we'll get back to you!

Grease Rag Open Shop is active again on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays, 5pm-7pm at our Minnehaha shop (there will be no Grease Rag Open Shop on Thursday, November 26, nor on Thursday, December 24).
Please reserve a stand online:  picktime.com/TheHubOutreach, sign up for more than one slot if you think your project will need it!

Group Rides and Social Seminars have all been postponed, as we do not feel it is socially responsible to host in-person gatherings for now, but we hope to ride with you again soon!

Other Events:  Check out our calendar for specific dates, times, and other relevant updates about individual events.

If you need to contact us for any other reason, call us at 612-729-0437 (leave a voicemail if necessary), or email us at thehub@thehubbikecoop.biz.

We appreciate your support, and hope to see you in our shops again soon. Until then, please do everything you can to help us flatten the curve. We will continue to provide updates through our newsletter (subscribe here) and social media channels.

Regards,
The Hub Bike Co-op
