Updated March 12, 2021

The state and federal governments have recognized that bike shops are essential to our transportation infrastructure. We urge you:  the safety of our staff and community is a priority for us. If you exhibit any signs of sickness or are quarantining, stay at home. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who does not respect our safety guidelines:

We require anyone in our shops to wear a mask that covers both the nose and mouth, and as that you please work with us to continue to flatten the curve and implement social distancing of at least six feet whenever possible. We have masks available, and hot running water and hand soap in our bathrooms.

We are rolling in repairs and tune-ups on a first come, first served and are able to offer on-the-spot flat fixes and minor adjustments.

As the typical busy summer season picks up (March through September), please be prepared to wait a week or two from the day your bring your bike in for us to begin work on your bike. We realize that this timeline may not work for everyone and apologize for this inconvenience. We are doing our best to keep up with on-the-spot flat tire fixes, and some quick adjustments while you wait.

Service Drop-off Instructions & Procedure:

  1. Bring your bike to the shop for a check-in.
  2. When you arrive
    • - Any in-person interactions with our staff require a mask or face covering that covers nose & mouth, with exception to those who cannot keep a mask on their face (viz. children). For those who otherwise cannot wear a mask, we can accommodate you over the phone and from contactless pick up/drop off.
    • - Wait at the designated location until a mechanic greets you. We have a sanitizing station at our customer queue so that you can begin cleaning your bike while you wait to be helped.
    • - Please maintain a 6-foot distance while we retrieve your bike.
  3. Our service staff will confirm your name & contact info, and bring the bike into the check-in work area.
    • - Bikes will be cleaned and sanitized by our mechanics. We will give extra special attention to disinfecting the cockpit and major touch points (handlebars, stem, grips, brake and shift levers, saddle, top tube will all be wiped with isopropyl alcohol (Recommendation Source: CDC)).
  4. Our mechanic will write up a full estimate for repair then call or email you with the cost and timeline to get consent for service to begin.
    • - Full deposits for the estimate may be taken at this time (credit/debit card payments accepted over the phone).
Once the work is completed on the bicycle, we will contact you via phone call or email. At this time questions can be answered and any additional deposit can be rung out over the phone to encourage social distancing.

REPAIR TIMELINE UPDATE,

April 8, 2021:

- Our Longfellow (3016 Minnehaha Ave) location is scheduling tune-ups 6-8 weeks after we check-in the bike.
- Our University Bike Center (401 SE Oak St) location typically has a 3 week turn-around time for tune-ups and other repairs.

During Shop Visits

- Any in-person interactions with our staff require a mask or face covering that covers nose & mouth, with exception to those who cannot keep a mask on their face (viz. children). For those who otherwise cannot wear a mask, we can accommodate you over the phone and from contactless pick up/drop off.

- Please respect a 6-foot distance away from staff & other customers, including while standing in line outside. We have markings on our sidewalk near our doors to help with this.

- Cash is discouraged, but accepted. We have payment terminals that allow for minimal physical interaction, including ApplePay and other touchless options.

Repair Services

Both of our locations are Full-Service Bicycle Repair Shops with professionally-certified mechanics. If there is a component or accessory that you need installed, maintained, adjusted, overhauled, or replaced we can do it!

Stop by today for a free quote on any repair needs that you may have. We can perform repairs a la carte, or help you save money when multiple small repairs are combined into one of our Tune-Up packages! Check out the tables below to see what's included at each Tune-Up level. Labor rates do not include parts costs.

The Hub Bicycle Co-op Service Technicians are proud to offer a 90-day limited guarantee on our repair labor on shop-quality bikes. Some services may be exempt. Tube change labor is guaranteed for 30 days. See your mechanic for details.

Due to limited storage space, repaired bikes left at the Hub for more than one week beyond completion of repair will be assessed a $1-per-day storage fee. Bicycles left for 60 or more days will be sold to recoup part and labor costs.
