If you want to work on your own bike but don’t have the tools or the space then come down The Hub to take advantage of our Do It Yourself Room at the Minnehaha location or our various Open Shop nights at our Oak Street location.
Our 3016 Minnehaha location is set up with 2 work stands and a collection of general and bike specific tools to help you get your bike the best shape possible. The D.I.Y. room is open whenever we are. We keep repair manuals on hand for reference. We do not have staff to go through every step or finish your repairs, so if you find that you need some parts while you’re working they are only a few steps away. The D.I.Y. shop is $5/hr.

In collaboration with Grease Rag, The Hub Bike Co-op hosts two monthly, FREE open shop nights for FTW (Femme/Trans/Women, Non-binary, Two-Spirit) cyclists. These happen 7pm - 9pm every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at our U of M Bike Center location, and are facilitated by Hub staff or Grease Rag volunteers.
Grease Rag’s mission is to encourage and empower FTW cyclists in a collaborative and fun learning environment through rides, discussions, open shop nights, and educational seminars in a safer space.
Open shop is a $5/hr do-it-yourself night most Tuesdays and Wednesdays in season. Work on your own bike with professional repair stands and tools. Staff will be able to offer advice, but won’t be able to cover every step or complete repairs for you. We cannot offer storage for personal bikes in The Hub so be ready to take your bike home with you. This is open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. We have 3 full-stands and tool sets, plus some additional space for smaller repairs like flat fixes.
Feel free to call our U of M location with questions 612-624-9468 about space and tool availability at this open shop.
